European eGovernment Awards
The new Hunting License Renewal function on the MULTIBANCO ATM network, available since 2007, was honoured with the best European eGovernment award in 2008.

Developed by SIBS for the National Forest Authority of Portugal, the winning function endows easy and convenient access to renewing hunting licenses at any one of the 13.500 ATMs in the MULTIBANCO network. Hunters can purchase their licenses using their hunter cards and taxpayer identification numbers in order to allow for the prompt issuing of a regional or national license. The project, included in SIMPLEX administrative modernization programme, streamlines the annual licensing process, hitherto carried out at the General Directorate of Forestry Resources Offices or at Hunting Organization branches.

The European eGovernment Awards is a European Commission initiative aimed at supporting the implementation of European eGovernment policies and strategies identifying the best IT and communication solutions implemented by European public companies.

This award is sponsored by ACEPI – the Association of E-trade and Interactive Advertising and awarded in recognition of whatever is best in the Portuguese eCommerce and digital marketing sectors.
