Launched in 2001, MB NET is an innovative and free service that enables its subscribers to perform fully secured card purchases (debit or credit) at any virtual shop, domestic or international, via Internet, telephone, e-mail or facsimile.

With MB NET people who usually buy products online can use MULTIBANCO in the Internet. The online transaction is performed with a temporary and virtual card that represents the data of a real banking card, which is never disclosed to the merchant. To sign up for this service, the user must only have a credit or debit card (American Express, MasterCard, Maestro, Visa or Visa Electron) issued by an institution participating in the system, activated at any MULTIBANCO or directly at the branches of the issuing institution.

When signing up, the system will automatically display a MB NET Identification – a User ID – the user selects the MB NET Code he/ she intends to use (with 6 digits); these two elements assure the system’s safety and confidentiality.

For safety and control, the user can define a daily maximum payments amount, which can be redefined or cancelled by the cardholder at any time.
